Barbara Bologna began her creative career as a sculptress and body art performer. In the year 2000 she designed and created her own fashion line AREA as a way to set her artistic vision free on new art forms and textile garments. Barbara Bologna's collections are hugely inspired by art and music visionaries, one of the reasons why her collections are intense, revolutionary and, as it happens, transgressive. Barbara Bologna's FW16/17 collection, titled Possession, Faux Perfection, plays ironically and provocatively at observing how, all of us, even unconsciously, are possessed by the values, ambitions, and desires aimed at the frantic search of a perfect concept. The real perfection, in short, does not exist, yet it resides in the defect, the imperfection, and the naturalness of emotions.
