
DESIGNER PROFILE: Henrik Vibskov

Henrik Vibskov’s work is mostly known for its enticing universes and crossover into different art forms. For the past 20 years, this multi-talented Danish designer, artist and musician has been broadening the spectrum of fascination and inspiration of an international cult following.
Vibskov’s impressive and intriguing biography includes numerous projects such as art installations, scenography, costume design, video, performance, as well as his own fashion label.
Since his graduation from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in 2001, Henrik Vibskov has produced more than 40 fashion collections, as well as numerous exhibitions, which has given him great recognition around the world.
He has participated and exhibited in international design fairs, festivals and museums, including the MoMA in New York, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, The 21st Century Museum of contemporary Art, Kanazawa, the ICA in London. He has also designed costumes for numerous operas and performances, including collaborations with the Oslo Opera House, The Royal Swedish Ballet and the Brussels Opera House. Henrik Vibskov is currently Professor at the DSKD Design School Kolding and is frequently giving lectures in art institutions all over the world, such as Central Saint Martins in London, The IED in Madrid and the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts amongst other.
Environmental awareness and sustainable solutions have also been a big focus of Vibskov’s work for the last 5 years. One of his great achievements in this field was winning the PETA Fashion Awards 2020 for the 'Best Down-Free Collection' for its range of coats with Ecodown® - a feather-free filler made from recycled plastic bottles.
To create those pieces, Vibskov uses a process that saves water, energy, and raw materials, making the designs king to the environment as well as to the animals.
Mainly known in the fashion industry for his attention to detail and excellent craftsmanship, Vibskov’s surreal universe is translated into loud patterns and colours, bold shapes and interesting accessories.
