Introducing Cherevichkiotvichki
Posted:
This month we've welcomed our first delivery of one of our newest designers, Cherevichkiotvichki. No, that's no typo and you didn't read wrong. The name Cherevichkiotvichki came about from designer Victoria Andrejeva's childhood - she wanted to make shoes because of their complexity. The name means 'shoe by Victoria' in the old Slavic language. And while it may be hard to remember, as a brand they have always operated and grown by word-of-mouth.
Working hand-in-hand with this, is a key factor of her finished pieces: there are no labels. She is far more interested in what she is actually making, rather than the label it is made under. Quite the contradiction to a lot of what we see these days, and a refreshing take that proving that the craftsmanship and quality and key factors and at the base of what we as consumers should first consider.
Her skill is taken very seriously, and the process involved in creating each piece can be lengthy and highly considered. There are many layers and stages, different artisans at each step of the way, that come together to result in the finished product.
Andrejeva values her personal vision highly. For her, anyone is her customer, there isn't a set 'Cherevichkiotvichki' woman who she designs for. Her process ends when her creations leave the workroom.
At The Shelter we are excited to have a collection of her pieces in store (only) now. Please call +64 9 376 6544 to secure yours or visit us in store at 78 Mackelvie Street.
