Japanese Cuisine Workshop | Omotenashi

Presented by An Astute Assembley, we're excited to announce our next workshop to be hosted at The Shelter in Febrary.

A little different to our usual workshops, here we will be welcoming guest chef Yuya Yamamoto from Japan to host a Japanese Omotenashi Cuisine Workshop.

Date: Sunday 17 Feb

Time: 10am - 12:30pm

Cost: $95 per person (includes provided lunch)

Location: The Shelter, 78 Mackelvie Street

'Omotenashi' is a Japanese term representing the act of providing detailed service in a variety of ways, allowing guests to enjoy a relaxing and memorable time by putting customers first. In short, it's translated to hospitality.

Chef Yuya Yamamoto co-founded his restaurant, Cultivate, in a remote town surrounded by beautiful nature and mountains. He uses locally sourced vegetables and other ingredients, and serves his creations on artisanal made plates. Upstairs from Cultivate is Seedbed Gallery, the exhibition space where Yamamoto collaborates with a number of local artists to house varying collections. Customers travel from afar to experience the sensational food on offer (and to check out the gallery), making this a must-visit destination when in the area.

During the workshop you will be introduced to the philosophy of Japanese food and Omotenashi, taught about the importance of using the right tools, followed by an in-depth demonstration and tasting of what is created right in front of you.

Please note this workshop can be Gluten Free too - make sure to mention this if you book are are GF.
